The hourly rate is £9.50 p/h. There is an application and interview process. Sian Owen (student recruitment and outreach officer) will be conducting the interviews for the IoA ambassadors. Successful applicants will then undertake a half days training which is paid for.
Once inducted ambassadors will be logged onto a central system called HEAT, they will get email alerts when jobs are posted. These will be for all the campuses and for a range of different roles i.e campus tours, UCAS fairs, school and college outreach visits, Open Day registration desk etc.
Ambassadors get to pick and choose which jobs they want to apply for, they are not allocated jobs without their consent.
From those applying, jobs are then allocated to whomever is best served to carry them out. For example, for an Ambleside Campus open day we would try and choose students based at that campus to cut down on travel costs.
